Tchaikovsky Piano Trio in A minor, Op. 50 Tuesday, October 10 The Cortona Trio Amy Schwartz Moretti, violin Julie Albers, cello Elizabeth Pridgen, piano The popular trio returns with Tchaikovsky's dark and brooding masterwork, said to be the most difficult of all his works for piano. Beethoven Sonata for Violin and Piano: Cycle 1 Tuesday, November 14 Amy Schwartz Moretti, violin Andrew Armstrong, piano The Beethoven sonatas are a touchstone for violinists and pianists, setting the standard by which all other sonatas are judged. Violinist Amy Schwartz Moretti and pianist Andrew Armstrong will perform the first of a cycle of three concerts of these great sonatas that will conclude in the year 2020, the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth. Beethoven String Quartet in C major, Op. 59, No. 3 Monday, December 4 Ehnes Quartet James Ehnes, violin Amy Schwartz Moretti, violin Richard O'Neill, viola Edward Arron, cello The last movement of this quartet has been called "almost impossibly fast" – and the Ehnes, with their dramatic style of playing, are more than up for the challenge. Grieg: Sonata in A minor for Cello and Piano, Op. 36 Tuesday, March 13 David Finckel, cello Wu Han, piano Winners of Musical America's coveted Musicians of the Year in 2012, the renowned husband-and- wife duo bring their irrepressible energy to the Center, performing Grieg, Beethoven, and Mendelssohn.
