concert, behind the Wellness Center at
Middle Georgia State University. Aptly
named "Picnic Pops," students, community
members and visitors from across the
region can expect fun and upbeat summer
songs on the lawn overlooking a campus
lake.
"Music is at the very heart of who
we are in Middle Georgia, and we are
delighted to partner with the Macon
Pops," said Christopher Blake, president
of Middle Georgia State University. "As
educators and stewards of the public
trust, we are committed to increasing
awareness of and accessibility to the arts in
our region. We welcome the Macon Pops
onto our beautiful Macon campus and look
forward to sharing an evening of music
with the Middle Georgia State University
community and the broader community as
a whole."
"Macon Pops is all about partnering,"
said Moretti, "This is Macon's group! Dr.
Blake from Middle Georgia State University
has been incredibly supportive, so we
decided to our opening concert outside at
the campus." According to Moretti, this will
become an annual tradition for the Pops.
"The concert on the 26th will be 'Songs
of Summer,' " said Catingub, "Think of it
almost like "Dancing Through The Decades"
but more like dancing through the
summer!" The duo plan to perform such
hits as "Summer Wind," "Here Comes the
Sun" and "Boys of Summer."
