40 MACONMAGAZINE.COM T here is no question that Macon has an amazing music history. We celebrate Otis Redding, the Allman Brothers and Little Richard, among others, every chance we get. But there is so much more. Macon Pops is an example of the broad range of Macon music being performed here and now. And, thanks to Pops co-founders Steve Moretti and Matt Catingub, it's going way beyond Macon. "We are creating shows here that are being performed globally," said Moretti. "We've got great music history, and it should be honored, but there is an immense amount of talent here, now, that needs to be celebrated." According to both Moretti and Catingub, past performances of Macon Pops shows "Dancing through the Decades" and "Classically Jazzed" have made it to such places as Japan and Canada - and this is just the beginning. The fourth season is jam packed with more of Macon Pops' favorites, as well as new themes that are sure to become signature performances. The shows are based on concepts the co-founders have developed over many years. This new season will begin in August 2016 and run through May 2017. The new season also features of change of venues. Middle Georgia State University and Mercer University will be hosting concerts on their campuses.
