DECEMBER/JANUARY 2013 MACON MAGAZINE I 43 KRIS HATTAWAY, director of place for NewTown Macon: The people of Macon inspired me in 2012. I've been very inspired by seeing so many of my friends become involved in what's going on here, and I've been inspired by all of the younger generation stepping up and taking on community roles. MAMIE BRONSON, a long-time Macon resident originally from Hampton, Va.: I'm not the best one to ask the question, because it hasn't been a very inspiring year for me, that's all. I lost my dad. But I guess that not being from Macon originally -- I lived in Macon most of my life -- I guess my inspiration has to come from my Christian base, from my church and home. And knowing that I do have a home here in Macon. Like I said, it's sort of been a rough year, but it's survivable and you can make it if you have faith. PHILLIP DIEHL, works at Lemongrass Bistro: The election has inspired me in 2012. (Note that this was a week before the November election, and he honestly didn't seem to express a political preference.) I've been paying a lot of attention to it. It's just the excitement that it brings to town. It is an election, so it has its negative aspects, but I have had some pretty cool conversations with people about it who I never thought I would have a chance to talk to. Just seeing what it does to the community. I enjoy it.
