Jessica Brown and Tracie Souther are partnering to bring this new studio to Macon. Themselves both bright lights in the local yoga scene, Southern Soul will be a mix of their fun and fearless personalities. Located in the Fresh Market shopping center on Forsyth Road, Southern Soul will fill a gap left by the closing of Hometown Yoga in late November. Jessica, who owned Hometown Yoga with partner Ashley Dunwoody, closed the studio in late November with a packed house on the last night of classes. All yogis in attendance were happy to hear that Ashley will continue teaching Slow Stretch at Southern Soul. The new studio will offer classes including Slow Stretch, Vinyasa Flow, Yin & Yang, Gentle Back Care, Yoga Basics and Strength & Length. The classes complement what's being offered by Macon's favorite downtown yoga studio, Sparks Yoga. Known for truly igniting a yoga practice through Wake & Flow and Power Hour classes, Sparks also is the only place to go for Aireal Yoga. (If you've never tried it, go now!) Just down the road in Warner Robins you'll find Homegrown Yoga, where Rachel Gerrity leads a cadre of teachers and teachers in training. We look forward to seeing some of our favorite yoga teachers from all three studios working in tandem to create the beautiful yoga fabric that makes up Middle Georgia. On Wednesday, Jan. 24, in The Grand Opera House, Jen Hatmaker and Nichole Nordeman will share a blend of music, stories and conversation with their Macon fans. From 7-10 p.m., Jen, the author of "Of Mess and Moxie," and Nichole, vocalist and songwriter who has sold more than a million albums, will make you laugh. And make new friends. Swap stories. Share struggles. Breathe. Listen. Own your mess. Stand with one another. According to their promise for the show: "The world is filled with angry voices shouting about our differences. For one evening, leave the noise behind. You and your friends can treat yourselves to a night out—a reminder that you can laugh at the days to come, soothe your soul, and have strength for whatever lies ahead." The event at The Grand is hosted by Highland Hills Baptist Church and open to the public. For more information and ticket information go to HighlandHillsBaptist.org. #maconmoxie Local buzz
