DECEMBER/JANUARY 2017 MACON MAGAZINE | 51 What are you doing to promote health and wellness that you want Macon Magazine readers to know about? Our goal as pediatric dentists is to instill in our young patients a positive attitude towards dentistry that will last a lifetime. As a pediatric dental office, we provide specialized care for infants, children and adolescents; and we are especially caring towards children with special needs. We are conscientious pediatric dentists who take the time to tailor dental treatment needs for each patient. We pride ourselves in the time we spend with each patient and parent to teach the reason for their problems and how to prevent future issues. We have a strong educational reputation in the community as we support local programs and teach oral hygiene when asked by groups. We have received many compliments for our quick response to dental emergencies. Most importantly, we want every child's first (and future) experiences to be pleasant while maintaining that happy grin! Looking forward to 2017, what are the most innovative practices you will be involved in with your clients/patients? We now have two practitioners, Dr. Murphy and Dr. Cozart, to better serve our patients. Dr. Murphy has practiced in the Macon Community for 35 years, and happily welcomes Dr. Cozart as a partner and recent graduate. She graduated summa cum laude from both the University of Georgia and the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Cozart is up-to-date on the newest advances in pediatric dentistry due to her pediatric residency training in Augusta (formerly Medical College of Georgia) where part of her time was spent at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. In addition, she served as chief resident. We often consult with each other to ensure patient receives individualized care from two perspectives. We truly have a great team effort with parents, patients, and staff to educate the child in maintaining a healthy mouth! What's new and exciting in your field? Pediatric dentistry is heading towards education and prevention. We strive to remain up-to-date through continuing education and our study clubs, and once something is safe and proven we use it in our practice. Where can Macon Magazine readers go for more information? Feel free to stop by the office Monday-Thursday, 8:30-5:00, at 1923 Hardeman Avenue or call 746- 1538 to meet our doctors and staff.
