Rescued pet photos are from our readers. We only used the pet names,
not owners, for privacy. Plus it's all about the joy pets bring anyway!

1. Jaya is a rescue from McDonough
Pregnant Dog Rescue, and I found
her on petfinder.com. I had been
trying to convince my husband to
get a dog for two years. He finally
agreed, and that's where we got her
name. Jaya is Hindi for "victory."
2A. Kinsey was found abandoned
at the Athens airport and taken to
Athens-Clarke County Animal Shelter.
A local rescue saved her from
euthanasia, and she became a part
of my family in 2008 at a little over
a year old. She has been an absolute
blessing to me.
2B. After losing my very first rescue,
the vet suggested getting another
puppy to help my second dog
cope with the grief. Mig was found
abandoned on an Atlanta Gas Light
Truck. At 5 months old now, she is a
tiny ball of energy, and we love her.
3. Ray Ray Charles (front) was born
without sight five years ago, and he
has become one of the shining lights
of my life. Julia (rear) is the newest
addition to our family. I saw her
picture and video on Facebook along
with the story of her losing one of her
back legs and fell in love.
4. After being saved from a high-kill
shelther, Libby (left) needed a new
friend to play with. Phoenix (right)
lost his leg in a car accident before
being rescued, but it has never kept
him from chasing her around the
backyard.
