APRIL/MAY 2016 87 SPECIAL ADVERTISING SECTION Robin Parker Coliseum Health System 520 Charter Boulevard, Ste. 400 | 478.471.6868 Robin.Parker@HCAHealthcare.com Coliseum Health System is a multifaceted health care system with two hospitals in Macon. What is your job within this organization? I am the Vice President of Marketing for Coliseum Health System, which includes Coliseum Medical Centers, Coliseum Northside Hospital and Coliseum Center for Behavioral Health. Our facilities are affiliated with HCA, the nation's leading provider of healthcare services, recently named on the list of the world's most innovative and ethical companies. This relationship provides us abundant resources and support. I just celebrated my 16th year with the company, and I find it just as rewarding as when I started. How did you begin your profession in Health Care? As a journalism major at UGA, I secured a fabulous internship with Athens Regional Hospital that led to my interest in healthcare marketing. In Athens, I became friends with Elbert McQueen, and he encouraged me to interview with Charter Medical in Macon, my hometown. They hired me in their Greensboro, NC hospital. At 21, I began a 12-year marketing career in the psychiatric healthcare industry. When Charter closed in 2000, Jan Beeland hired me in the Coliseum Health System marketing department and mentored *** me through the second half of my career. For that, I am so grateful. What is most challenging about what you do? Our field has changed dramatically over the last 15 years; I clearly remember when we first started a web site and had to write the code in the background ourselves. (That was challenging!) At that point, we were focused on traditional marketing efforts and image marketing. But now, much of what we do is through social and digital media and we are more strategically focused on our customers. Managing the new techniques and a multichannel approach in a coordinated and consistent effort is challenging but exciting! What is most rewarding? I absolutely love connecting patients and their families to the services they need. I have the opportunity to use my skills to tell our story. The care and services our employees and physicians provide is second to none, which makes my job so easy! I work closely with a great leadership team and a talented marketing department who are committed to the care and improvement of human life, which is our mission. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? I enjoy spending time with my husband, Greg, to whom I have been married 27 years and our four children, Harrison, Hayes, Holden and Ally. We are fortunate to have most of our big family living within four miles of us. I love to read, organize (anything!), write, travel, volunteer, spend time with friends and Stratford Academy sports.
