86 l MACON MAGAZINE DECEMBER/JANUARY 2013 House ad Congratulations to Nazario Filipponi on his decision to increase his sphere of gastronomic influence. Nazario, owner of Marco Ristorante Italiano in north Macon, is opening another Marco Ristorante in that city to the south, Warner Robins. Lucky Warner Robins residents will soon have the pleasure of this fabulous Italian cuisine in a location close to everything including the base, 2707 Watson Blvd., the former Johnny Carinos Italian Restaurant. "Patrons from the base and the city have been trying to convince me to do this for years," Nazario said. "Aer touring the city with Mayor Shaheen and talking to a number of other city leaders, I decided it is the right thing to do." Bringing Marco's level of dining to Warner Robins will be a worthwhile addition to this fair city. And with special rooms for private parties, tables for more than 200 guests and a brick oven to add to Marco's culinary offerings, can only be a good thing. A wine room for a private wine dinner, an expanded bar and patio dining are a few of the other new things at the new Marco. Nazario is not worried about the stress of running two restaurants. "I have a well-trained staff, an excellent new chef (Gianluca Sciagata) and many years of experience," he said. "We will serve lunch there also because there is such a large lunch business due to the base." at will be the only difference Macon patrons will notice. Marco will stop serving lunch here and will close for Sunday dinner sometime aer the first of the year. Will the menu be the same? For the most part, he said. His focus on "uncompromising fine dining quality" will never change. Marco is a fine dining restaurant first and foremost. It is one of the top dining establishments in Macon and soon, Warner Robins will have the same enjoyable culinary adventure. Marco expands its mission bits & pieces
