Mount de Sales Academy is an independent Catholic school sponsored and inspired by the Sisters of Mercy. It's a diverse college-preparatory community of learners – students and teachers alike – who are poised to discover, challenged to innovate, and motivated to serve. It is important to know we serve families of all backgrounds and traditions. Catholic education in Macon preceded the Bibb County School District, which was established in 1872. In 1963 Mount de Sales was the first school in Middle Georgia to integrate. How do you meet a need or satisfy a want for Central Georgians? We are a college-preparatory school that commands high expectations with unmatched academic rigor. However, that is not what we are most proud of. While we push our students to meet their potential academically, we focus just as much on the "whole person." We want to explore a student's character, integrity, spirituality, and truly get to know them for who they are and would like to be. Our school is the perfect example of knowing each of your students individually, having fun, and also encouraging them to academically excel. What experiences led you to choosing this professional path? I do what I do because of the joy I felt in learning. I am a 2010 Mount de Sales graduate and my most influential memories involved the fun I had while I was in and out of the classroom. This sense of joy and wonder was created by educators that I am now blessed to call coworkers and friends. A er college, I was able to teach in other schools where joy and individual care was lost for teachers and students. I knew I wanted to be a principal that helped foster an environment where children and teachers are excited to walk through our doors every day.
