Living outside of New Orleans, I've learned you don't need much to create that magical vibe. String lights, colorful beads, and feathered masks go a long way. Setting up a jazz playlist or hiring a local musician adds an authentic touch. Don't forget to greet your guests with beads as they arrive – it's a simple way to make them feel like they've stepped onto Bourbon Street. 2 S E R V E C L A S S I C N E W O R L E A N S F L A V O R S As someone who grew up cooking these dishes, I believe the food is the heart of any Mardi Gras party. You can't go wrong with classics like gumbo, jambalaya, or crawfi sh étouff ée. I make my roux from scratch, just like my grandma taught me. For smaller bites, serve mini muff ulettas, shrimp po' boy sliders, or spicy andouille sausage bites. Don't forget the hot sauce—Louisiana and Crystal are non-negotiable staples in my kitchen!
