3 K I N G C A K E I S A M U S T No Mardi Gras party is complete without a King Cake. Growing up, finding the baby inside the King Cake was the highlight of the season. I make King Cakes to order, complete with a traditional cinnamon filling or fun modern twists like cream cheese or praline. Whether you buy or bake your own, decorate it with purple, green, and gold sugar for that signature look. Remember, whoever finds the baby has to host the next party – so plan ahead! 4 M I X U P S I G N A T U R E C O C K T A I L S Hurricanes and Sazeracs are the iconic drinks of Mardi Gras, and they always steal the show. I also love making a "Bourbon Street Punch" with rum, pineapple juice, and grenadine—it's always a hit. For non-alcoholic options, try a sparkling lemonade with fresh fruit and a colorful sugar rim. 5 E N C O U R A G E F E S T I V E C O S T U M E S A N D A C T I V I T I E S Mardi Gras is about expressing yourself and having fun, so encourage guests to dress in their brightest purple, green, and gold or wear masks and costumes. I love hosting a mask- decorating station for kids and adults – it's a fun activity that doubles as a party favor. A photo booth with Mardi Gras props, like parasols and bead necklaces, is always a hit. 6 B R I N G E V E R Y O N E T O G E T H E R Mardi Gras is about community, whether you're on St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans or celebrating in Central Georgia. Set up buffet-style serving to make it easy for guests to mingle and grab food. Arrange cozy seating areas where people can chat, eat, and enjoy the festive atmosphere. From authentic dishes to custom cocktails and party planning, I bring the spirit of Mardi Gras to life. I'll even offer up tips for creating my grandmother's traditional roux with our catering services! Laissez les bons temps rouler – let the good times roll!
