In addition to being mean darts players, club regulars like their rock, funk, and honky tonk gritty and late, so local acts like Tres Hombres and Shy Company, plus regional faves Edgewood Heavy, Mama Stone, and Funk You pump up the music until way past midnight. JBA 425 Cherry St. Fans of indie music frequent JBA for its dedication to hosting local groups like Choir of Babble, Mahalo, and Tier Blue, and for coordinating creative events like the recent Rock & Roll Spring Fling and the Just COS! adult cosplay party with DJ B3. Karaoke with Fresh Produce Records hosted by Willie D. on Thursday nights is an endlessly entertaining, interactive musical affair. Late Nite 420 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., Macon Downtown Macon's nightclub is open Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Whether you're craving the latest beats or sultry rhythms of Latin Nite with DJ Kiké on Fridays, Late Nite's spacious downstairs dance floor, upstairs VIP lounge, flashing lights, and bumping beats offer the energetic ambiance for a night out with friends or a chance to dance the night away. Macon Arts Center 4570 Pio Nono Ave., Macon The nearly 10-acre complex hosts a variety of live music events and comedy performances. The MAC is also carving a niche as the home of after- parties and multi-band festivals, including Macon Blues & Brews Bash and Metal Fest. Rich Homie Quan, Mike Clark Jr., and Chi-Town Transit Authority are among the artists who have performed there over the past year. Parish on Cherry St. 580 Cherry St., Macon If you're within a couple blocks of the Cherry & 2nd St. intersection in downtown Macon on weekends, a soundtrack is provided courtesy of a rotating lineup of musicians performing on the Parish patio. The Creole/Cajun restaurant hosts multiple musicians from Thursday nights through Sunday afternoons, featuring a host of area acoustic artists, including Alex Stone, Richard Martin, Ground Strum, KoleG8, Aspen Lee, Caleb Anthony, and more. Serenity Entertainment Complex 427 Poplar St., Macon Owner Anthony Howard Jr., says, "Serenity is the place for grown folks." For the past two years, Serenity has made its mark on Macon with innovative themed events, including its popular R&B Karaoke on Wednesdays, "The Bridge - Gospel and R&B Mashups," which have featured performances by artists including DeMarco McDonald, Prince Tailor and Elijah Bell, and the Dukes and Boots Rodeo Party - where line dancers pack the room and strut their stuff. Concerts and musical showcases are also a part of the ongoing offerings at Serenity. Society Garden 2389 Ingleside Ave., Macon The outpouring of support during a Planning and Zoning compliance meeting earlier this year demonstrated just how beloved The Garden and its music shows are to the community. The beer garden and outdoor stage play host to local bands, including Mt. Pilot, Magnolia Moon, and Parts and Labor, touring acts, and a hearty mix of tribute bands from the always sold-out Purple Madness Prince experience to recent purveyors of Grateful Dead, Bon Jovi, and 90s hip-hop nostalgia. Reggae Sundays are a not-to-miss weekend tradition featuring the island- evoking sounds of Dean Brown and DubShak. Vice Bar 499 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Macon With a name made for a bar, Johnny Vice opened his very own in the former JBA space last fall. Already a port of call for local musicians, Vice Bar features Bob and Blender's Acoustic Fireside Jam on Tuesday nights. The familiar stage has hosted Raspy Lemons, Jackson Tanner Trio, and Swain. Mulberries Jam, a May gathering, honored the 30th birthday of the late, beloved Macon musician Dustin Murdock. BELOW A night out at Friends on the Hill. Photo courtesy of Khalil Blount, aka DJ B3.
