Transparency within our communities is a starting point — clearly communicating our vision so that we have buy-in from the majority and working together to execute [it]. I have a greater appreciation for our community and those around us working together to try and make Macon a better place. I have a deeper respect for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and their efforts to 'reconnect' with their tribal lands … I want to contribute any way I can with the ongoing efforts to improve relations and economic benefit for Macon. If we learn to communicate with one another, without preconceived notions, focusing on the bigger picture, we can be successful." Tulsa, like Macon, is undergoing a lot of revitalization and seeking new residents — and they are thinking out of the box, too.. The George Kaiser Family Foundation funds a program called Tulsa Remote. It pays remote workers $10,000 to move to the city. Over the last four years, more than 2,000 people have relocated to Tulsa. Downtown Macon's revitalization is going strong with dining and entertainment options spurred on by residential loft developments that are adding 200 additional lofts annually. Macon Action Plan is working on its third phase which seeks to connect neighborhoods with downtown. While Tulsa has a number of programs designed to aid entrepreneurs, NewTown Macon is taking similar steps to spur business growth by aiding local businesspeople to create generational wealth. One outstanding effort that has involved several segments BEOLOW Maconites at the MCN Council Oak Tree on the Intercity Tour. ABOVE This public mural was commissioned by the Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission in 2021. Intercity Tour members viewed the mural on their way to Greenwood Rising, a museum experience that one Macon visitor described as "one of the most impactful experiences of my life."
