Farewell Concert: Mercer Singers Saturday, Apr. 20 at 7:30 p.m. The Voices of Spring: Mercer Women's Chamber Choir Sunday, Apr. 21 at 3 p.m. Wind Ensemble Dr. Brittan Braddock, conductor Fall Side-by-Side Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. Academy for Classical Education (ACE) The Academy of Classical Education Senior High Band and the Mercer University Wind Ensemble will join forces to present a celebratory fall concert. Highlights include a performance on ACE's brand new concert stage and a combined premiere of a piece composed by Ralph Ford for the 10th anniversary of ACE. Winds and Friends Monday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. The Mercer University Wind Ensemble will present an evening of chamber wind music featuring voice: solo and choral. Sheila Dunn, Richard Koswoski, and Timothy McReynolds will be guest soloists. The Choral Society of Middle Georgia will be featured in a performance of Johannes Brahms' Begräbnisgesang. Fanfares and Symphonies Monday, Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Grand Opera House The Brass Band and Wind Ensemble will take the stage at the beautiful Grand Opera House in Downtown Macon to perform major works in the repertoire. The Brass Band is the newest ensemble in the band area and will open the evening. The Wind Ensemble will perform James Barnes' Third Symphony. Bands at the Grand Honor Band Festival: The Mercer University Wind Ensemble Friday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. Grand Opera House Friday night will be the first of two concerts in an Honor Band Festival hosted by Mercer University Bands. On the program will be Philip Glass's Concerto Fantasy for Two Timpanists and Orchestra (transcribed for Wind Orchestra). Marcus Reddick will be joined by guest Laura Noah to perform this monumental concerto. Bands at the Grand Honor Band Festival: High School Honor Band Saturday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. Grand Opera House Mercer University Bands is proud to host talented high school musicians from across the Southeast to participate in our first High School Honor Band Festival, held at the historic Grand Opera House. This festival includes masterclasses with the Townsend School of Music's world class faculty, guest conductors, guest composers, and observation opportunities. The festival concludes with this concert after just two days of rehearsal. Erin Bodnar, director of bands at the University of North Florida, will be the guest conductor for the honor band. Spring Side-by-Side Wednesday, Mar. 27 at 7:30 p.m. McIntosh High School (Peachtree City, GA) The McIntosh High School Band and the Mercer University Wind Ensemble collaborate to present this side-by-side concert. Members of the Wind Ensemble will lead masterclasses and get to know the talented high school musicians through rehearsal and performance. Mercer University Chamber Players Wednesday, Apr. 24 at 6 p.m. The Society Garden The Mercer University Wind Ensemble will break into small chamber groups to present a concert in Macon's favorite outdoor hangout spot, The Society Garden. Expect small groups of woodwinds, brass, and percussion to perform a variety of repertoire in a casual outdoor setting. Bringing classical music to a wider audience is something that we are passionate about!
