WHAT IS THE MISSION OF YOUR BUSINESS? Wesleyan College has always been at the forefront of accelerating equality for women. We are the first institution in the world chartered to grant degrees to women — and now is the time to double down on this mission. The World Economic Forum said it will take 136 years to achieve gender parity in the workforce. We want to see gender parity in our lifetimes. To make this happen, the world needs the expertise of an educational institution that has specialized in accelerating equality for women for nearly 200 years. — Meaghan Blight HOW CAN WOMEN BETTER SUPPORT EACH OTHER? What I hope is that I'll be able to take the skills I've learned by having a seat at the table at Wesleyan and put them to work as a leader in my career. As President of SGA, I get to mentor the new students coming onto our campus. As I move into leadership positions outside of Wesleyan College, I hope to find new mentors to guide me and be a mentor to new graduates as well. — Daebreon Buie 2023 Women in Business WESLEYAN COLLEGE 4760 FORSYTH RD., MACON, GA 31210 (478) 477-1110 WESLEYANCOLLEGE.EDU PICTURED FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: MEAGHAN BLIGHT, PRESIDENT, WESLEYAN COLLEGE; DAEBREON BUIE, STUDENT AND PRESIDENT, WESLEYAN STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION S P E C I A L A D V E RT I S I N G S E C T I O N APRIL/MAY 2023 | maconmagazine.com 97
