WHAT IS THE MISSION OF YOUR BUSINESS? We strive to provide gentle, compassionate family dentistry for people of all ages. We have done so in a calming atmosphere in historic Downtown Macon since 1947. We want to make the world a little better one dental appointment at a time! WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT MACON? So many things! From our natural resources to our restaurants to our museums and prolific art, theater and music scenes, there is a lot to love. WHAT IS THE MOST GRATIFYING PART OF YOUR WORK OR LIFE? Bringing the world more smiles! WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF BEING A FEMALE BUSINESS OWNER OR PROFESSIONAL WOMAN? Having patients and colleagues talk down to me, especially in my earlier years. I used to be so angry each time a patient asked to "see the 'real' doctor" a er I spent time with them. But now I remind myself of the elderly woman in rural Tennessee who, when I told her I was indeed the dentist that would be seeing her that day… she wept with joy and said she didn't know that women could be dentists. WHAT WAS THE BEST BUSINESS ADVICE YOU EVER RECEIVED? Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Doing well is the result of doing good. That is what capitalism is all about." I firmly believe that when we treat other people well it ripples out into the world and comes back to us. YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO KNOW: I am the third generation to practice dentistry at Holliday Dental! My grandfather started the practice in 1947. My father joined him in 1983 and still practices today. I feel very blessed and honored to be following in their footsteps. 2023 Women in Business FAIRA HOLLIDAY PAYNE, DMD DENTIST, HOLLIDAY DENTAL ASSOCIATES 360 SPRING ST., MACON, GA 31201 (478) 746-5695 | OFFICE@HOLLIDAYDENTAL.COM HOLLIDAYDENTAL.COM S P E C I A L A D V E RT I S I N G S E C T I O N APRIL/MAY 2023 | maconmagazine.com 85
