Mercer is also preparing entrepreneurial musicians for success in their careers at the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings (315 College St.). Here, in this intensive, conservatory experience combined with the practicality of business-oriented curriculum, Mercer music students are presented the opportunity to earn a spot on the Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra, which performs seasonally at Macon's Grand Opera House (651 Mulberry St.). A tribute to Macon's music scene can be found on every corner of downtown and even Mercer's main campus entrance, which connects to Little Richard Penniman Boulevard. Macon native Little Richard grew up in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood and skyrocketed to international fame with his first hit, "Tutti Frutti," which remains an iconic anthem even today. 19 Christopher Smith
