Kenneth "BuBu" Robinson DECEMBER 6, 1972 - JANUARY 25, 2022 Another cornerstone to our local scene was lost far too soon. So many of us were still reeling from the passing of Kenneth "BuBu" when this issue was conceived. Also a multi- instrumentalist, his drumming legacy started in the rural churches of neighboring Wilkinson County, and from there he made his way to modern day southern rock, blues and roots music circles of Macon. It's because of BuBu that so many unforgettable live Macon music moments had him on drums, bringing the beat to our audiences. BuBu was a powerhouse, a familiar force, a talent beyond his years and someone with a personality so infectious, you just wanted more of him. His talent wasn't limited to Central Georgia. BuBu's skills were sought-after. But it was seeing him live, here in Macon, often at Grant's Lounge, that made all the difference. Because BuBu as a person was a show all on its own. And his energy was inspiration. Before his untimely passing, we're honored to share this photo of Kenneth "BuBu" Robinson as part of the Macon Music Project, which you can read more about on page 46. Hines Causey JULY 30, 1931 - APRIL 14, 2022 Macon is full of legacies that started with music but took a detour towards a better besuited path – such as launching a landmark small business. Hines Causey started singing professionally at the age of 17, his voice sought after for tens of thousands weddings and funerals. He kept a day job at Hart's Mortuary before starting the Hines Causey Combo and playing swing music all over the Southeast for the next 50 years. But it was in 1965 that Causey made a strategic move for a singer who played weddings and funerals – he opened a formal wear business and called it House of Hines, which set well-dressed precedent for special occasions for decades to come. Now a full circle of service, Causey cornered the market in life's celebrations and celebrations of life. His passion for music never stopped: He was also the founding member of the Macon Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. At 90 years old when he recently passed, Hines's beloved voice will remain among the many Macon memories of those he celebrated through song. How great he was.
