M ACO N M AG A Z I N E.CO M 3 1 EXPLORE HISTORIC VINEVILLE HOMES DECKED IN HOLIDAY SPLENDOR ONCE AGAIN, the Historic Vineville Neighborhood will showcase its picturesque homes with a Holiday Tour of Homes. A delightful biennial holiday event, the tour is a celebration of the impressive architectural character and appealing design styles of the neighborhood's history, homes and residents. In a testament to Macon's growth and commitment to historic preservation, the tour demonstrates how young people are giving new life to old homes. "We are especially excited to showcase younger residents of the neighborhood breathing life into these historic homes," said Rebecca Richard, Tour of Homes chairwoman. "With half of the homeowners on the tour being under the age of 40, we are looking forward to showcasing repairs, renovations and how we've made our houses into homes for our families." The tour happens from 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. Dec. 7 and 1-6 p.m. Dec. 8. Ticket pickup is at Vineville Academy of the Arts, 2260 Vineville Ave., where students will give tours of the school and their classrooms, and Vineville's orchestra and choir will perform. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day-of. More information is available at vineville.org or the Vineville Neighborhood Association's Facebook page. Proceeds benefit the Vineville Neighborhood Association, which works to improve, protect and advocate for this area of Macon. The association strives to create a sense of place and neighborhood pride. "Money raised from the Holiday Tour of Homes will fund the next two years of neighborhood revitalization efforts," said Lauren Morrill- Ragusea, president of the Vineville Neighborhood Association. "Ticket sales support low-interest facade loans, park beautification and social events that make Historic Vineville a tight-knit community."
