She has performed throughout the US, Canada, South America and Europe to the highest critical acclaim. A pianist in the grand Romantic tradition, mature, highly nuanced with a gorgeous sound of "black velvet," Huling mesmerizes her audiences from the first note. Her sound ranges from ethereal to thundering, and is stunning in the depth of emotion and expression. Diana Thompson, lyric coloratura soprano Monday, Oct. 28 Lauded for her musical confidence and "sparkling vocal pyrotechnics," lyric coloratura soprano Diana Thompson will perform a beguiling program of art songs, arias, and Broadway standards guaranteed to delight. Featured on the program will be Ms. Thompson's haunting portrayal of the "Mad Scene" from Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor. Phil Pierick, saxophone Monday, Nov. 11 A staunch advocate for new music, saxophonist Phil Pierick has commissioned more than 25 new works and presented more than 50 premieres in France, Germany, Austria, Canada, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and the United States. Chadley Ballantyne, bass-baritone Monday, Jan. 27 Of his portrayal as Argante in Handel's Rinaldo, Amanda Finn of Broadway World wrote, "Chadley Ballantyne's cavernous bass could give James Earl Jones a run for his money." Ballentyne will present a program featuring the atmospheric music of Jacques Ibert's Chansons de Don Quichotte, a collection of Hugo Wolf lieder, Russian arts songs of Mikhall Glinka, and the beautiful, challenging songs of American composer Charles Ives, including his tour de force, "General William Booth Enters into Heaven." Alan Schmitz, composer Thursday, March 19 Guest composer Alan Schmitz is being honored for his 70th birthday in a concert of his solo/chamber music. Schmitz earned bachelor and master of music degrees from the University of New Mexico and his Ph.D. in music theory and composition from Rutgers University.
