This program brings us to the country of France with Ravel's riveting Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 2, followed by various French songs arranged for string quartet and ending with the virtuosic Quintet for Piano and String Quartet by César Franck. Involving Center Artist Faculty and young artists, this concert kicks off what promises to be a phenomenal season. Chart-topping Czechs Amy Schwartz Moretti, violin; Emily Brandenburg, viola; Edward Arron, cello; Jeffrey Turner, bass; and McDuffie Center Young Artists Tuesday, Oct. 29 Center Distinguished Bassist Jeffrey Turner, known for his versatile career as an orchestral musician, chamber musician and teacher, brings his wealth of knowledge, joining forces with guest artist cellist Edward Arron, McDuffie Center Faculty and young artists for an evening of spectacular Czech music. From the lesser-known works of Martin ů's Duo for Violin and Cello No. 1 and the Songs of Josef Suk to the ever popular and loved Dvořák Bass Quintet, this evening's program will bring you into this world of varied color palates, sounds and emotions. Italian Innovation Robert McDuffie, violin; Ivano Zanenghi, lute; and McDuffie Center Young Artists Thursday, Nov. 21 The Center welcomes concert violinist and founder Robert McDuffie back to Fickling Hall for what will undoubtedly be a magical night of Italian Baroque music. Joining him for the first time in Macon and on the Fickling Hall stage is lutenist Ivano Zanenghi. Mr. Zanenghi, hailing from Venice, Italy, is an active performer as well as a professor of Baroque lute and basso continuo at Venice's Scuola di Musica Antica, and is a founding member of the Venice Baroque Orchestra. Join us for an evening of delightful music, which includes Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Russian Rhapsody Ehnes Quartet – James Ehnes, violin; Amy Schwartz Moretti, violin; Richard O'Neill, viola; Edward Arron, cello Tuesday, Jan. 7 The Ehnes Quartet, hailed for their "Dream team line- up" (Strings) makes a much anticipated return to Fickling Hall, to perform a concert of the Great Russian Masters. Including Shostakovich's Tenth String Quartet, the famous "Nocturne" from Borodin's String Quartet No. 2, followed by the powerful String Quartet No. 1 by Tchaikovsky, the Ehnes Quartet will guide attendees through some of the most beautiful and exhilarating music of the string quartet genre.
