What sets your business apart? We're currently the only bike shop in Macon and the longest running one as well. I believe our service, not just turning wrenches, has always helped to set us apart. We are inclusive of all people interested in riding bikes – not just those who choose to ride in lycra. What is the most common question you receive? "Do y'all fix bikes?" "Do y'all put motors on bikes?" What are the most gratifying – and most difficult – parts of your job? First and foremost, the best thing about this job is seeing kids get their first new bike. I also enjoy refurbishing older bikes and passing them along to someone who'll really enjoy them and use them. The most difficult part is keeping up with the summer repairs! You might be surprised to know: At Bike Tech, we maintain and service all the Zagster Rental Bikes downtown as well as the exercise bikes at The Wellness Center. What are you most excited about right now in our community? Seeing more people riding around on their bikes and more bikes on car-mounted bike racks going down the road. There are also multiple new organizations working to get bicycles for those in need. Advice for those seeking to get started in your field of business: Get a bike and actually ride it. Start with fixing small things. Learn how to fix the problems that tend to happen during a ride. Then, get a bike stand and teach yourself to take your bike completely apart and put it back together.
