"The Serpent's Last Secret" ends the trilogy that began with "The Sundisk" and "Time Is of the Essence." Along with "A Matter of Loyalty," a novel about post-revolutionary Russia, "The Serpent's Last Secret" reflects the importance of the natural world and the vital role that world plays in maintaining peace, order and harmony in today's environment. For more information about her books, visit theserpentslastsecret.com. Time to "Shake It Up" It's time once again for the Macon Civic Club's annual musical revue, "Shake It Up." For the 57th year, the show will feature song, dance and comedy amidst a spectacular set, colorful costumes and sensational music from a live orchestra. Show dates are Jan. 31-Feb. 3 at the Grand Opera House, 651 Mulberry St. Tickets are $18 for Jan. 31, $20 for Feb. 1, $40 for Feb. 2 (which includes a pre-show cocktail gala) and $20 for Feb. 3. All prices are subject to handling charges and fees from the Grand. Each show starts at 7:30 p.m., with the Feb. 2 gala commencing at 6:15 p.m. Last year, the Macon Civic Club was able to donate more than $200,000 to charities in Middle Georgia. The group's goal is to continue to raise the bar financially by helping as many local charities as possible.
