While in high school, I felt that real estate would be a great career path for me to pursue. So, after graduation, I began attending educational and training classes. At the age of 19, I earned my real estate license in North Carolina and became the youngest Realtor for a major firm in Charlotte. I soon took the proper education and testing to gain my Broker's license and have been at it ever since! What are your biggest career challenges? As a wife and mother of two preschoolers, my family is my first priority. Juggling family and children's needs can sometimes be a challenge when I need to line up childcare to meet with clients. What is most rewarding about your job? There is no greater joy in real estate than seeing the excitement on people's faces when they've bought a new home – particularly if it is their first home! I am just as excited when I am able to help a seller make a quick sell and get a good price on their home, especially if it had previously been on the market for a while. Who influenced you the most to pursue your career goals, and how did that person influence you? It all began with my mom who has worked as a part-time interior decorator. Seeing how she decorated a variety of homes, especially when it was to get one ready to sell, was always a fun experience. Then, after I became a Realtor, a wonderful lady in our firm mentored me and taught me the important business principles of being proactive, responsive, and available to your clients. Her advice has served me well. Where do you envision yourself five years from now? With the market in Macon beginning to grow again, in five years I look forward to being part of a thriving Macon community. I plan to continue being a member of the Circle of Excellence program by selling an excess of $1.5 million each year. I also look forward to the constant learning this career provides. No transaction is ever the same, and I love how my clients end up becoming my friends. Women In Business
