I think of myself as a nurse rather than as a woman in business! I have worked in emergency rooms in Georgia, Texas and Alaska, in ICU and open heart surgery units at several hospitals, in postpartum nursing, and even as a parish nurse. When my husband, Wayne, and our lifelong friend, Randy Griffin, decided to build The Cottages on Wesleyan and The Gables at Wolf Creek, I saw it as a natural fit to lead The Cottages on Wesleyan that includes residents in both Assisted Living and Independent Living. What is the difference between Assisted Living and Independent Living? Assisted Living is for seniors who require more detailed assistance with activities of daily living such as assistance with medications, and possibly assistance with baths and hygiene care. We also take our residents to doctor appointments. One of the best advantages is that the people we care for have three, delicious, home-cooked meals a day served restaurant style! We have a close relationship with our residents and their families to ensure every person is provided with the best care within our means. It's all about helping our seniors to enjoy life as much as possible. Our residents are so satisfied that this spring we are adding ten more Assisted Living suites. Independent Living, on the other hand, is just like leasing an apartment that includes the type of amenities you would expect in an apartment, and we add so much more. With The Cottages on Wesleyan our "patio" homes have generous amenities and most importantly, are part of an old-fashioned community where neighbors look out for one another and spend time together on each other's porches. What is unique about The Cottages on Wesleyan? The Cottages on Wesleyan is a high-quality, locally owned and operated, retirement community right here in Macon. We are planning a grand opening of ten new Assisted Living suites sometime in May. On the 'independent' side, our residents live in patio homes with nine-foot ceilings, crown molding, an attached garage, complete appliances, and a front & back porch. The best thing about The Cottages on Wesleyan is the old-fashioned neighborhood feel of our community. We have a robust calendar of activities to entertain and engage, and our residents are truly 'neighbors' who are enjoying their retirement years to the fullest. What is most satisfying about your job? I take pride in the fact that our team provides excellent customer service to our residents. We pay attention to every detail because we genuinely care! One of our residents described The Cottages on Wesleyan as "Pure Contentment!" When our residents are happy, we are happy. Women In Business
