Don't miss the Fired Works Preview Party on Friday in Macon's beautiful and historic Central City Park. Sparks fly during the opening preview party of Fired Works, featuring 6,000 original works by 65 regional potters in the Round Building. Guests will enjoy live music, flame-grilled tacos, complimentary wine and cold beer. Mix and mingle with potters and get the first chance to shop for sculptural and functional pottery before the event opens to the public. 6-9 p.m. $40 advance | $50 day of party SATURDAY, APRIL 22 FIRED WORKS opens to the public 9-5 p.m. | $5 (unlimited return visits) CHILDREN'S "CLAY TIME" Children will love getting their hands dirty on a beautiful afternoon in Central City Park. Fired Works offers Clay Workshops for Children on Saturdays. Professional ceramic artists Meg Campbell and Mark Merritt will work with children ages 5-12 teaching simple pottery techniques. Children will create their own original works of art to take home. Workshops last one hour, and class sizes are limited to 20 students. There are two class time slots, 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Reservations are required. Clay Workshops are free thanks to generous support from the Elam Alexander Trust and Lizella Clay Company. 10-12 p.m. | Free admission SUNDAY, APRIL 23 FIRED WORKS 12 p.m.-4 p.m. | $5 (unlimited return visits) MY JOURNEY WITH CLAY: INFLUENCES AND INSPIRATIONS ALONG THE WAY Featured Artist & Speaker Barry Gregg Barry Gregg's work, although whimsical at first glance, contains serious themes of overcoming adversity and longing for greater insight. To create meaningful work, the Decatur clay artist utilizes both his knowledge from an arts education and his inspiration from life experiences, including fantasy, spirituality, a magical beach childhood and the unknown. 1:30-2:30 p.m. | Free with show admission MONDAY, APRIL 24 FIRED WORKS 11-6 p.m. | $5 (unlimited return visits) TUESDAY, APRIL 25 FIRED WORKS 11-6 p.m. | $5 (unlimited return visits) WHEEL TURNING WORKSHOP Want to take a spin on the pottery wheel? Professional ceramic artists Roger Jamison and Mark Merritt will teach you how to throw your own piece of clay on the pottery wheel. This is a great way to learn new techniques and create new experiences. A group of 6 will work with our professional ceramic artists to create a custom pottery piece. Please wear attire that can get dirty. Tickets are $50 and include materials and finished piece. EVENT SCHEDULE
