my "Off to the Piggly Wiggly" cart. I am not a tortured artist and actually like the work I create. WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR ART? I try to convey humor in my work. I am so pleased when someone has an outburst of laughter in response to one of my pieces. The world needs more laughter and I want to contribute to that. The dogs I create are not breed-specific, but I am thrilled when a customer finds their dog's spirit (or even their own) in a piece. WHICH CREATIVE MEDIUM WOULD YOU LOVE TO PURSUE BUT HAVEN'T YET? I would love to pursue a class in glass, but am afraid it would result in too many emergency room visits. WHAT'S THE BEST ADVICE YOU EVER HAD ABOUT HOW TO BE MORE CREATIVE? Take it one day at a time. The culmination of work is what matters. WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE ARTIST AND WHAT DRAWS YOU TO THEM? It would be impossible to name just one favorite. Many artists have inspired me, including Picasso, Warhol, Johns, Dali, Lichtenstein and Monet. Debra Fritts and Ron Meyers have impressed me with their talent and generosity. Both clay artists have given me words of wisdom when I needed them the most. WHAT INSPIRES YOU? A multitude of things inspire me, often existing in my subconscious while I am creating and becoming clear after the work is complete. Be there! dog Parker was diagnosed with bone cancer, losing her leg to save her life. I was devastated, but my loyal friend was fearless, bounding happily up the home stairs on three legs after surgery. Parker ran, jumped, swam and danced with joy for four more years. Most importantly, she inspired me by accepting life and embracing whatever came her way. My muse Parker taught me valuable life lessons. Growl only when growled at. Let unimportant (and some important) things go. Remain loyal. Bark less. Wag more. WHAT IS YOUR DREAM PROJECT? My dreams are big. I will let you know when I wake up in the morning.
