T
he 50-year anniversary cele-
bration of the combined 1966
classes of Miller and Lanier high
schools was held Sept. 30-Oct. 1 in Ma-
con. The Friday night welcome event
was held at the Georgia Sports Hall of
Fame. Saturday's main event was at Idle
Hour Country Club with music by The
Grapevine. Saturday morning, class
members met for breakfast and partic-
ipated in a golf outing at Idle Hour or
took the popular Rock Candy Tour by
trolley.
The combined 1966 class of Miller and
Lanier High Schools was the largest in
the schools' history with approximately
670 graduates. The first 1966 Mill-
er-Lanier Class reunion took place in
1976 at the clubhouse of the apartment
complex located on the former grounds
of Ragan's Park in Cross Keys.
In 1986, a group of alumni met to ex-
plore the interest in a second reunion.
Those attending this meeting became
the core organization that planned
highly successful reunions over the
next thirty years. Among those attend-
ing included:

Lucas, Bee Gee Jones and David
Rainwater at the Georgia Sports Hall
of Fame.
2. From left to right, Phil Blanks, Char-
lotte Johnson, Bill Bryant, Bobby Ger-
hardt and Mike and Stephanie Brice at
the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
