O
ver the time I've been
volunteering in animal
rescue I've seen every kind
of dog and cat imaginable come into
Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare. From
Pit Bulls to Poodles, Siamese to
Scottish Fold, all breeds eventually
find their way into the shelter. While
the vast majority of dogs are so-called
"mutts" they run the gamut of breed
combinations. My advice to you is
if you are looking for a specific size
or breed is to frequently check the
shelter's Facebook page, or work with
a local rescue. You need to select the
animal that is most suited to your
situation or family. In the case of
dogs, size really does matter. If you
live in an apartment and consider
yourself a couch potato you might
want to stay away from larger dogs
(or perhaps you should get a kitty
instead). If you love long walks and
live a more active lifestyle a Lab
mix might be just the right fit. Do
you have a fenced-in yard? Do you
work long hours? Can you afford
things like food, vaccines, and flea
preventative? Also, if you are not
willing to make a 15 year commitment
don't get a pet. As much as it pains
