Program founders Bob Hatcher and Charlie Jay were recognized at the luncheon and thanked for their visionary leadership. According to Bob and Charlie, the idea came while they were attending a meeting in Savannah and the rest is history. Since 1979, over 1,400 aspiring community leaders have graduated from the program and have gone on to become leaders in their businesses, in political offices, in non-profit organizations, in the government and education arena and on community boards. Class members have become lifelong friends and some have even become business associates. While the backgrounds of the alumni are widely varied, one thing they all have in common is that every alumni thinks they were in the best class ever!
