34 MACONMAGAZINE.COM OVATIONS365.com T he 11th Annual Fired Works Regional Ceramics Exhibition and Sale will be held April 16-24 in the Historic Round Building in Macon's Central City Park. The 2016 exhibit features 65 potters and more than 6,000 pieces of pottery from Georgia and the Southeast. Fired Works began as a local pottery show and has grown to become the largest exhibit of functional and sculptural pottery in Georgia. This event draws artists, visitors, decorators, and collectors from across the state and region. Visitors are able to see and purchase handmade bowls, mugs, vases and more. During its 9-day run, Fired Works includes special events such as an Artist Talk by featured potters, Bill and Pam Clark of Clark House Pottery, Clay Workshops for Children, Corks and Clay, and a Wheel Turning Class for the experienced ceramicists. A special Preview Party will be held on Friday, April 15 with live music from the Macon Pops Jazz Trio, catering by Moonhanger group, complimentary drinks, and an exclusive chance to purchase work before the exhibit. Fired Works exists to foster and support Southeastern potters and to promote the rich history of pottery in Central Georgia. Humans have made pottery along the banks of the Ocmulgee River for thousands of years. In fact, the oldest piece of pottery ever found in North America was found at the Ocmulgee National Monument. It's fitting that Georgia's largest exhibit would be held in Macon each year. Get your tickets at FiredWorksMacon.com!
