This year, featured potters, Bill and Pam Clark, of Clark House Pottery in Greenville, South Carolina, will discuss their work and the influence of George Ohr on their approach to pottery making. The Clark's will share how they became a part of the double Ohr family and the history of the "Mad Potter of Biloxi." Regular admission applies. Clay Workshops for Children Saturday, April 16 from 10 – 11am and 11am – noon; Saturday, April 23 from 10 – 11am and 11am – noon. If you ever wondered what will get a child to stop playing video games and go outside, we're here to help. Children will love getting their hands dirty on a beautiful afternoon in Central City Park. Fired Works offers Clay Workshops for Children on Saturdays during Fired Works. Professional ceramic artists will work with children ages 5-12 teaching them simple pottery techniques. Children will be able to create their own, original works of art to take home. Workshops last one hour, and class sizes are limited to 20 students. Registration is required. Clay Workshops are free thanks to generous support from the Elam Alexander Trust and Lizella Clay Company. (Children ages 5-12) Wheel Turning Workshop NEW! Tuesday, April 19 from 6 – 7:30pm and 7:30 – 9pm. Maybe you have taken a pottery class or two, and want to try your technique on the pottery wheel? If so, you will enjoy a Wheel Turning Workshop at Fired Works. Professional ceramic artists will teach you how to throw your own piece of clay on the pottery wheel. This is a great way to learn new techniques and create new experiences. A group of 6 will work with our professional ceramic artists on creating a beautiful wheel thrown piece of pottery. Tickets are $50 and include drinks, materials, and finished piece. Corks and Clay Workshop Thursday, April 21 from 6 – 7:30pm and 7:30 – 9pm. You don't have to know anything about making pottery to enjoy a Corks and Clay Workshop at Fired Works. This workshop is meant to be a good time with friends. Enjoy playing in the mud, while having a drink on us. It's a perfect date night for couples or a group of friends who are looking for something a little different. Groups of 10 will work with our two professional ceramic artists on easy-to-learn projects. Tickets are $30 and include drinks, materials, and finished piece.
