DECEMBER/JANUARY 2016 !! MACON OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE 124 THIRD STREET MACON, GEORGIA 31201 (478) 751-2900 | MACONOCCMEDICINE.ORG What is unique about Macon Occupational Medicine? We offer a unique type of medicine that is marketed to business owners. Those are our customers. We specialize in treatment of all types of work- related injuries, physical therapy for those injuries, drug screening, and physicals including pre- employment, return to work, and DOT. We work with large and small companies. Our goal is to ensure the highest standard of health and safety at work can be maintained. What's been going on recently that is new and innovative at Macon Occupational Medicine? MOM has been adapting to the needs of businesses in the current market by moving to more on- site services. We have grown our staff by 10 percent and can now go to a business and provide drug screening, physicals, and health and safety educational programs. Is 2016 going to be another year of healthy innovations for MOM? What will be new in the coming year? We are in the process of rolling out a primary care model for companies. The purpose of the model will be to expand what we treat to include non-work- related medical conditions at the workplace. This saves money by keeping employees at work and ultimately helps companies pay less for health insurance. A healthier work force helps employers and their employees. Where do you see MOM in five years? We hope the future holds an expansion throughout the state. We are proud of our outcomes. We average three visits per patient; the national average is six. By working hand-in-hand with businesses and making them healthier and safer, we reduce injuries and help our customers and their bottom line. We have been here for 15 years, and our success has been strong and solid in this area. We work with more than 2500 different companies on a yearly basis. We believe our model and the introduction of a primary care model will allow us the ability to expand in Georgia. But we also want to continue to do a good job in our community. We strongly believe that has to involve giving back in many ways including continued work with the Leader in Me program being piloted in the Bibb County Public Schools, Chamber of Commerce, Middle Georgia State, Goodwill, Mercer University, 100 Black Men and others. Healthy . . . Innovations From Left: Dr. Cathy Harper-Hogan, Medical Director, Breanna Bassett, VP of Clinical Services, Leonard Bevill, President and CEO, Susan Headley, VP of Administration, Jonathan Pitts, VP of Client Relations.
