With support from MEDC, local and new businesses and industry expand operations and add 250 new jobs to the local economy. MEDC fulfills inquiries from prospects, leads site visits, prepares presentations and actively recruits new business and industry to Macon-Bibb. After weeks and months of thorough research, new businesses invest in Macon- Bibb creating 250 new jobs. Major investments of $68 million by existing and new industry resulted in the building, purchasing and leasing of 632,452 square feet of industrial and retail space. e Chamber funds the Macon Economic Development Commission (MEDC), which is the driving force for economic development initiatives in Macon-Bibb. New families relocate, local employees are promoted and college students from the region's five colleges and universities decide to stay in Central Georgia to fill the new positions.
