W O M E N ABOUT B U S I N E S S April/May 2026 | maconmagazine.com 71 What is the mission of your business? Our mission is to create and support one to one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. What services or products do you off er, and how do they meet a need or satisfy a want for Central Georgians? Mentoring changes everything. At Big Brothers Big Sisters, caring adult mentors help young people succeed in school, graduate, and build brighter futures. What experiences led you to choosing this professional path? (Why do you do what you do?) Seeing the realities many local families face changed my path. With violence rising and too many students disengaged from school, I chose work that helps young people fi nd opportunity—and helps Macon reach its full potential. What is the best advice you have ever received, business or otherwise? In the music world, there is a saying, "You are only as good as your last performance." This is true in everyday life as well. What is your advice for women wanting to start their own business, going back to work, or starting a new career in Central Georgia? You're allowed to change your mind, change your path, and ask for more. What has been the most challenging part of being a female business owner or professional woman? The toughest part isn't being underestimated—it's when women see each other as competition instead of allies. We're far stronger when we support and li each other up. You might be surprised to know that ... Believe it or not, I've performed as a professional harpist and pianist all over the globe, even at Walt Disney World! I hope more women will: Step up. Mentor. Empower our youth with the skills to thrive.
