The sculpture park is the signature project of the Macon200 Bicentennial Committee. For decades, Melgenia and Miles Redd have built one of the largest privately owned collections of Black art in the Southeast: the Redd Family Collection, with over 800 pieces. The latest exhibition, Melodies & Merriment: Seeing Sound in Black Art, is currently on view at the historic Douglass Theatre annex through Dec. 21. Mercer University's President-Elect Dr. Penny L. Elkins with Mercer graduates and Mercer Student Government Association President Alisha Mitchell and Chief of Staff Deven Jackson after the University's Board of Trustees announced her selection as the 19th President of Mercer. Mercer University, Macon-Bibb County, Knight Foundation, Peyton Anderson Foundation, and partners broke ground on Mercer School of Medicine, set to open in fall 2028.
