28 maconmagazine.com | October/November 2025 STORY BY NATE WEEKS N AT E ' S T O P 10 : D i s p a t c h e s f r o m t h e M i d d l e G e o r g i a T i m e s A s the founder and editor of the Middle Georgia Times, my mission is simple: bring more positivity and strengthen communities across Central Georgia by encouraging people to get out and share time with families, friends, and neighbors. Middle Georgia Times is all about shining a light on uplifting stories, creative energy, and vibrant gatherings that knit us closer together. The following, in no particular order, are my top ten (so-far) cultural events that have happened this year in Macon. 1 Mulberry Street Arts and Crafts Festival Downtown Macon inspires me during the annual Mulberry Street Arts and Crafts Festival, which takes place at the very end of the International Cherry Blossom Festival. Tens of thousands stroll the streets with senses heightened by the smells of food trucks, the vivid colors of unique artworks, and the sound of people laughing and talking happily. Over 100 juried vendors display leatherwork, painted ceramics, and handcrafted clothing. The festival, known as the oldest arts and crafts celebration in Central Georgia, is a fantastic place to discover unique things to try, taste, and buy. 2 Bike Walk Macon's Play Streets These are special, family-friendly events in different neighborhoods around Macon. In December of last year, the nonprofit transformed Ingleside Avenue into a car-free area with games, places to sit, local vendors, and more to promote neighborhood connectivity. Families played lawn games while a colorful, volunteer-installed crosswalk beside Ingleside Village Pizza served as a traffic calming device and public art. The strong sense of community I get at a Play Streets Macon event keeps me coming back. 3 Fall Line Brewing Co.'s Art After Dark Art After Dark is a unique, yearly event where visitors can watch molten glass being formed live, sway to beats at a silent disco, and shop from talented artists and craftsmen.
