W O M E N ABOUT B U S I N E S S April/May 2025 | maconmagazine.com 83 Our mission is simple: to sell beautiful things and give back to the community that supports our growth. We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to serve our community with gi s that meet their need for any occasion - from engagements to celebrating milestone occasions. In my ten years of owning Smith's, it has been a pleasure to see continued growth and, also, give back to our community through various organizations like the Salvation Army and Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital, right here in Macon. What services or products do you offer? Smith's, which displays the rich heritage the business enjoys and one that has spanned six owners, is celebrating 114 years in Dublin. As the oldest jewelry tabletop and gi store in Dublin, Smith's is now serving its customers from bridal registry and fine jewelry to gi s for every occasion. Simply put, Smith's offers a hometown feel with a big city mindset. What is the best advice you have ever received, business or otherwise? "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." A friend said this to me early on in my Smith's ownership. She was referring to products we brought into the store - just because something is popular or trending right now, does not mean that it will align with my long-term vision for Smith's. It has been nearly ten years since she said that, but I still find it to be true in all areas of life. Just because I can make time for a commitment, I always need to evaluate if it aligns with my mission. If not, I will find myself pulled in a million different ways - many times at the sacrifice of my family time or time spent working on my business.
