116 maconmagazine.com | April/May 2025 Carrie Genzel INTERVIEW BY JULIA MORRISON | PHOTO BY DSTO MOORE Who else should we spend five minutes with? Email hello@maconmagazine.com to let us know. F i v e m i n u t e s w i t h What's a hidden gem you like to go to? I don't know if it it's hidden, but I love going to Rabbit Hole. It's just my favorite style for shopping and just great community interaction. What is a challenge that women have in leading? It's finding the courage to try to bring your ideas forward and know that your voice is valuable. What advice would you give to a young woman who is finding her confidence? Follow your passions. Find those women who inspire you and encourage you to be your best self. Never be afraid to raise your hand. Is there someone who mentored you through the process of moving to Macon? That was JoJo Jones. Joanna Jones. Michael and I first came to Macon to look at a property and we didn't know anything. Should we go downtown? Is there a place we should go through lunch? What should we see to know what Macon is? And she was like, "Wow, how much time do you have?" And she drove us around, and that was the start of us really seeing just the magic. Of course, she knows everyone, so we bumped into a lot of Maconites. We fell in love with the city, but it really was Joanna who got us there. What's a secret talent you have? Honestly, I feel like there's nothing hidden anymore in my life. I don't know if this is enough, but I think that as a woman, my mental health journey and discovering who I am and finding my voice is my superpower. Sharing myself and not caring what others think. This champion for Macon combines her love of all things spooky with her background as an accomplished actress in Visit Macon's Macon Macabre videos. We challenge Carrie to a lightning round to find out more about what her life is like behind the scenes.
