C
olin Penndorf's trademark is
collaboration. The native Maconite and
proud Middle Georgia State University
graduate is an artist and curator who's
made his mark with the 567 Center for Renewal,
Triangle Arts Macon, and Macon Arts Alliance
working on a veritable cornucopia of projects.
He's a founding member of the Ocmulgee Artist
Guild and has branched out into being the owner
of Shape & Space Art Management – and in his
spare time, helps his alma mater as the current
chairman of MGA's Alumni Association.
The second Macon Mural Festival just
wrapped up. Tell me about your role and your
favorite moment of the weekend.
I pretty much worked as a contracted company
through Shape & Space Art Management. This
year was such a different festival because last
year we did not have the same rain issues. I had a
fun moment where I was standing on BikeTech's
roof with David Swartz, our muralist from
Colorado, trying to jerry rig a plastic awning out of
tarp and pallet boards – which did not work, but it
was memorable.
What's been a challenge of doing the mural
festival that's something you might want
to think through differently next year or
something that caught you unawares?
