American Voices Monday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. Grand Opera House We are excited to welcome Dr. Jack Stamp as a guest composer and conductor for this special program. He will conduct two pieces on the program, including his famous Gavorkna Fanfare to open the evening. Cailey Martinez will be featured in Dr. Stamp's Elegy for English Horn and Band. In addition, the Wind Ensemble will perform pieces by Peter Mennin, Leonard Bernstein, and Katahj Copley. Bands at the Grand Honor Band Festival: Opening Night Friday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. Grand Opera House Friday night will be the first of two concerts in the Mercer University Townsend School of Music | music.mercer.edu University Ensembles Unless otherwise noted, all performances are ee and held in Neva Langley Fickling Hall in the McCorkle Music Building on Mercer's Macon campus. Bands at the Grand Honor Band Festival hosted by Mercer University Bands. The Mercer University Wind Ensemble will perform a program inspired by hard rock and popular music styles. Dr. Monty Cole will perform Black Dog: Rhapsody for Clarinet and Wind Ensemble by Scott McAllister. Bands at the Grand Honor Band Festival: High School Honor Band Saturday, Feb. 22 at 3 p.m. Grand Opera House The Saturday afternoon concert concludes the 2nd Annual Bands at the Grand Honor Band Festival. Top high school students audition and travel from around the region to participate in this three day festival full of masterclasses, performances, and community building. Chamber Winds at The Society Garden Wednesday, Mar. 19 at 6 p.m. The Society Garden The Mercer University Wind Ensemble will break into small chamber groups to present a concert in Macon's favorite outdoor hangout spot, The Society Garden. Expect small groups of woodwinds, brass, and percussion to perform a variety of repertoire in a casual outdoor setting. Bringing classical music to a wider audience is something that we are passionate about! Earth Day: Sounds of Spring Tuesday, Apr. 22 at 7:30 p.m. Porter Auditorium at Wesleyan College This is sure to be a stunning season finale. The Wind Ensemble is excited to perform in Porter Auditorium and feature works with organ and wind ensemble. A highlight of the program will be Thomas Trachsel's Concertino for Organ and Symphonic Band; Ted Babbitt, organ. Lucas Meinberg, flute, will be featured in The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan Williams.
