Rinaldo by George Frideric Handel Mar. 20-22 at 7:30 p.m., Mar. 23 at 2:30 p.m. Mercer University Opera is proud to present Handel's Rinaldo, a masterpiece widely regarded as the best of his 40 Italian operas, a tale of love amid war waged against the powers of evil. The emotions of the innocent betrothed couple, the virtuous warrior, the villainous sorceress – all are brought to life vividly in aching melodies of longing, vengeful fusillades of running notes, or sparkling duets, emerging organically from the drama.
