BeautyFull Reconnection: Music from Eastern Europe Kyung-A Yoo, piano Charlie Tauber, piano Marcus Reddick, percussion Joshua Smith, percussion Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Kyung-A Yoo's BeautyFull series opens its fourth season with chamber music from Eastern Europe. This program includes Bartók's magnificent work, Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion, Janacek's Violin Sonata, and Lutosławski's Variations on a Theme by Paganini. COLLECTIVELY: All About Collaborative Piano Kyung-A Yoo, producer Students and faculty from the Townsend School of Music Friday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. This program will take you on a journey to learn more about the wonderful world of collaborative piano. Join us and support the students and faculty that make up the collaborative piano studios. BeautyFull Collaboration: Romantic or Modern? Kyung-A Yoo, piano Martha Malone, soprano Steven Elisha, cello Friday, Mar. 28 at 7:30 p.m. This program illustrates the beauty found in different styles. You will experience the world of Romantic and Modern classical music. The composers included in the program are not widely known but are brilliant. Meet the composers of the evening: Libby Larsen, Alfred Schnittke, Walter Gieseking, and Frank Bridge! Mercer University became an All-Steinway School through the generosity of Mercer's chancellor, Dr. R. Kirby Godsey. With the establishment of the Joan Stockstill Godsey Center for Keyboard Studies, the School of Music features Steinway & Son pianos for all teaching, rehearsals and performances. e gi, which recognized Joan Godsey's many contributions to Mercer, and in particular her love of and commitment to music, enabled the School of Music to join the nation's other premier music programs as an All-Steinway School. e gi provided for 37 new pianos and created an endowed fund to support the care and upkeep of the pianos. e Joan Stockstill Godsey Center for Keyboard Studies hosts an annual Concert Series that features leading international performing keyboard artists. e Godsey Center joins the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings, the Townsend-McAfee Institute for Graduate Church Music Studies, and the Fabian Center for Musical Excellence as signature programs of the Mercer University School of Music.
