Local architect David Richardson built and dwelled in the home. Now, Jasmine and her husband, Alex Bailey, find peace in their unique, nature-focused abode tucked away in North Macon. "I love it because it feels like a treehouse," she said. "The rain is so melodic, and the views are everything. Also, I love the peace and quiet." They moved in during the summer of 2020, when the importance of one's home environment was front and center. For Jasmine, being at home is about more than furniture and décor; it's about how the space makes you feel."I feel at home when I feel comfortable being myself," she said. "This is the place where I can express myself freely." Jasmine's space is delightfully filled with those quintessential marks of the 1970s. With an Aro Leuchten chandelier greeting you at the front door, wooden ceilings stretching above you, and windows upon windows inviting you to birdwatch, this house is a preservationist's dream. Modernity, however, enters colorfully through her art. From Jasmine and Alex's engagement photo in front of a Downtown Macon mural to the large impressionist portrait visible from the street, her story mingles with the architecture to create a beautiful harmony. "That was painted by my friend, choreographer Andrew Harper," she said of the portrait. "I saw it, and I had to have it. It's so moving. My goal is to have my house full of art by my friends." Jasmine's love of the arts transcends home aesthetics. For the opera singer, who recently portrayed Gilda in "Rigoletto" at the Atlanta Opera and has a full schedule of performances ahead of her, the arts are a passion embodied through her daily life.
