See it! Macon Arts Gallery (486 1st St.)
from April 5 – 26, 2024.
complete the work with encaustics and a torch.
I plan to paint on Mulberry St. near two historic
churches and in Rose Hill Cemetery.
You are participating again this year in the
Plein Air Festival. How do events like these
inspire and connect artists to the community?
Are there any drawbacks to participating?
Plein air painting is challenging because it
requires you to work with continuously changing
atmosphere and light outdoors. You are required
to work fast, simplify the composition, and decide
what you want to convey.
Plein air painting isn't my specialty, but
I participate in this festival because it is a
wonderful way to connect to the community.
When people stop to watch your process, they
are also viewing our city and seeing it in a new
way. Macon is an extraordinarily beautiful city and
needs to be put on canvas as often as possible.
