any moons ago, as a young
undergraduate at Mercer
University, I lifted weights
in the University Center gym on a
personal quest to add muscle to my
thin frame. Up to that point, muscle
mass seemed to elude me no matter
what kind of strength training routine
I undertook. Needless to say, I was
tired of lacking results and searching
for answers.
One day, I noticed that a classmate
had significantly bulked up. We worked
out in the gym at the same time, and I
saw him progressing faster than me. I
approached him to ask him his secret,
and he said one thing: post-workout
nutrition.
I'd read and heard about post-
workout nutrition, but I'd dismissed it as
unimportant. Here was a person whose
results spoke for themselves.
Post-workout nutrition is pretty
self-explanatory. It's simply food that
you consume after exercise, usually
immediately after a workout but up to
