FEBRUARY/MARCH 2024 | maconmagazine.com 109 FEBRUARY/MARCH 2024 | maconmagazine.com 115 ABOUT MACON ARTS ALLIANCE Macon Arts Alliance is working to make Macon a more vibrant, creative community. We founded Macon Baking Week with Visit Macon, Oh Honey Baking Co., and the Mill Hill Bakers Collective. We worked with legendary textile artist Wini McQueen to open her Canopy Project Gallery at the Macon Mall and exhibit her Bicentennial featured installa- tion The Canopy. We also partnered with the Mentor's Project, United Therapeutic Ser- vices, and Heart & Sole to provide art instruction for at risk youth. We commissioned the murals at the Macon Transportation Authority as well as creative bus stops on the corner of MLK and Cherry and Shurling Drive and Maynard Street. For the first annual Macon Mural Festival, we brought in five muralists from around the country to liven up down- town, including the Skate Park bathrooms in Carolyn Crayton Park. Check them out when you visit Fired Works! When you support us, we support creatives – and even more cool stuff happens.
