committee also commissioned custom
posters to sell at the art shows, which
corresponded to themes covered by
the bicentennial history committee's
presentations.
Fire Starters Film Festival
In September, the committee produced
the inaugural Fire Starters Film Festival
with funding from the Downtown
Challenge 2.0 Fund, a grant made
possible to bring the goals of the Macon
Action Plan to life (read about the plan's
newest iteration on page 32). The
festival complemented Macon's
tradition of the Ocmulgee Indigenous
Celebration with contemporary films,
art, and live music.
Modern Indigenous filmmakers'
work lit up the big screen with subjects
like press freedom in tribal nations or
women's stickball. An art exhibition
showed the path of the Muscogee
