performed with strictly percussion instruments, so we serve as stewards of percussion to ensure that our audience is given the best possible representation of what those musical instruments are capable of playing. SM: Macon Pops prides itself on reaching all corners of our community because of our wide range of programming. The Christmas Spectacular Concert for the Christmas Light Show Extravaganza in Downtown Macon is another example of bringing over 15,000 people to a performance. We are proud to provide the music for this incredible event and I can assure you, no one is performing live, synchronized to one million lights! CW: We perform often; recently we represented Macon in Birmingham, Alabama, making a huge statement in showing the talent we produce here. We're also involved in other events like Bragg Jam, the Cherry Blossom Festival, playing at the Tubman Museum, and more, allowing us an opportunity to showcase our talents in our own hometown. MM: How has Macon found its "rhythm" over the last year? MR: I think one of the big things we have going for us in Macon is the amphitheater under way on the old Macon Mall site that will surely attract regional, national, and international talent to Macon. I think the city has slowly regained momentum musically over the past 15 years or so after a bit of a lull in the 90s through early-2000s, and I credit a lot of that to these festivals that have graciously included Macon in their travels. PL: I think Macon continues to find its rhythm. This is an ongoing process that continues to evolve as the people of the city continue to do. We have returned to our well-known community staples and continue to add new adventures along the way. That is our rhythm. It is familiar yet unpredictable and oh so exciting!
